Martin began his computer-programming career working for a company called Hubco in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1983. He then became an independent contractor until 1987, when he and his family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to work for Saber Systems.

There he met Fred Keepers, and in approximately 1993, they formed FM Software, while continuing to prosper in this endeavor, growing the company to meet the individual needs of their growing client base. The time for change came and in 1997, he and Fred formed Pivotal Systems, while continuing to support their customer base, and sell the FACTS software package.

Martin has many accolades to his credit: He is the author of the following modules available for FACTS.

Ken Sproul

Ken began his computer-programming career in 1982 as an independent contractor doing T&M jobs for local companies until landing a senior software engineering position in 1987 at Softcare Computer Consulting Company in Pittsburgh, PA. There Ken honed his skills and pioneered a modification process with proprietary version control tools to maintain a single code-set with feature settings for use at all client systems. In 2002, he earned the Software Solutions Rob Russell Award for FACTS for Outstanding Technical Acheivement. During this tenure he met Martin and Fred at many FACTS conferences, and in 2005 he joined Pivotal Systems to become the lead software engineer to enhance, maintain, and support the FACTS RM module as well as develop and maintain many of the other FACTS add-ons that are available from Pivotal Systems today.

In 2020, Martin and Fred added Ken as a minority partner to take over operations and in January 2025 he became sole owner after Martin and Fred's retirement.
